The Hawbridge School is set in a beautifully restored historic cotton mill on the banks of the Haw River. The school features an experiential and project-based curriculum that is woven this year into five interdisciplinary units: Pottery, Textiles, the River, Power and Energy, and Sustainable Environment.
The Hawbridge School has the tools and innovative curriculum that enable students to thrive and succeed: state-of-the-art computers, a wireless network, a photography lab and darkroom, special programs on the environment, river stewardship and sustainable agriculture, an excellent art program, and math and science courses taught by Ph.D.s.
The Hawbridge School is a public school that primarily serves students in the following districts:
- Alamance County Schools
- Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools
- Chatham County Schools
- Durham County Schools
- Orange County Schools
Students from any school district in North Carolina may attend free of charge. During 2007-2008, students from eight districts commute to the school. Public School: No Tuition.
