Athletics
The Hawbridge School takes every advantage of its geographical location on the banks of the Haw River, and athletics are thus primarily of the run and row (actually, paddle) varieties.
The HOutdoors program, developed by Matt Steible, affords students the opportunity to accompany teachers with outdoor training and certifications on backpacking, camping, fishing, hiking, and canoeing trips to various locations in North Carolina. Canoeing, taught by Physical and Health Education teacher Nolan Wildfire, takes place on nearby Saxapahaw Lake as part of the PE curriculum.
Cross country clubs currently held weekly are developing into cross country teams for competition, and crew, archery, and competitive bass fishing are being added for the 2012-2013 academic year.
